About Us

Welcome to Otter Valley Lodge. We hope you enjoy your stay here, at one of the most beautiful, enchanting and funky fishing camps in Maryland. Trout fly fishing here is catch and release.

Bring a flashlight if you expect to be there in the dark. There are electric lights, lanterns all the way from the caretaker’s cabin up to the main lodge that you can switch on and off. The caretaker, Denny can show you where they are on a tree near the caretaker’s cabin and lot and in the lodge at the top.

There is good drinking water from a deep well in the first cabin after the caretaker’s cabin. We will provide well water for you in containers in the first cabin. Water in the rest of the cabins comes from a natural spring upstream and is good for washing and showering. Please minimize use of plastic water bottles as they are not good for natural systems or for you.

  1. Please don’t throw anything in the creek.
  2. Respect any wildlife you may encounter.
  3. Keep screens on the fireplaces.
  4. Be careful with candles, cigarettes or anything that could start a fire.
  5. Make sure all the windows are closed when you leave.

Take good care of the place, and clean up after yourselves. We hope that you will treat the place as if it were your own, because, essentially, it is.
